I've read a few threads here about this subject......I'm very curious.......never heard of this before.....I must appear really stupid here, but what does "o-ringing" a cylinder mean?
'O-ringing a cylinder' entails machining a receiver groove either at the top of the cylinders or in the head for a wire ring. Extra insurance in HIGH cylinder pressure applications, like high static compression (12:1 or higher), or for a power adder like nitrous, supercharger, turbo that greatly adds to the dynamic compression. Hope that helps some...o No:
Simple answer: using a piece of wire installed in the deck of the block or in the cylinder head to supplement the head gaskets sealing ability.
Thanks guys, I was wondering about that. I figured it had something to do with the head gasket.:bglasses:
So does anyone know..... How far you can go with the supercharger before this "O ringing" process needs done? Im assuming it depends on your setup (compression), but can anyone give some details on this?
If it was me, anything I threw a supercharger on I would o-ring. I guess you can get away with it as long as you're running 8.5 compression and a small amount of boost, but there's always a chance you're taking.
