Ducati for $3,200???

What's going on fellas? I know this is a little off.....but There's an '01 Ducati 996 for sale in Portugal for $3200 and he said he'll pay for shipping and insurance. Has anyone ever gotten burned on a deal that sounds too good to be true on ebay? He even said he'll take $2900 western union? Just sounds too silly. I would post the link but I don't know how. (Stupid computer stuff, lol) A bike like that goes for 9000 easy.....Just need a little input. o No:

I know but.....D@@n. I have my doubt because I'm selling my '00 GSX-R 750 for $4500 and that's dirt cheap! He's saying he's hard up for cash....something about having a kid and wanting to improve his house and it being too expensive to register a U.S. spec bike in Portugal. Has anyone ever lost a large amount of cash through ebay?

 

Unless you see the car and guy you hand the cash over to in person, it's 99.9% a scam.

 

Well the HD market had a major drop in value. The newer bikes cost $7000 new. They are price matching Jap bikes to sell more. So in some markets the value has bottomed out on the HD brand. Why pay $20,000 for used when new is less then half.

 

I've been coorisponding with this guy all night and he's replied immediately once I copied and pasted the Western Union blurb on ebay....... he didn't respond, not yet atleast and it's been 30 min. And thanks for pointing out that he isn't a registered user....I didn't even notice that.

 

The guy with the corvette said his brother just died and a bunch of other stuff. Is it a private auction, Does he want to settle it off of ebay?

I just went to it, it's a scam. Ask him if you can bid on it to make it Legally binding.

 

He still isn't responding to my emails..........I guess he found another sucker. It is a private auction....but I've just concluded that it's not worth the risk. Every now and then you'll find a heck of a deal on ebay....but I don't feel like gambling anymore today (just lost $60 on slots this evening) thanks for the quick replies and talking me out of doing something silly.

Using Western Union is part of the scam. It bypasses all of eBay's services that at least partially protect you.

 

HD Harley Davidson, Ducati bikes use HD motors. Basically a HD motor in rice rocket clothes. Though they tip the motor forward for better handling.

 

I have to disagree with this statement, the only similarity between the two is that they are V-twins
Buell on the other hand is a sportbike with an HD engine
