I know, I know it's a Ford question, but anyway Can I run a dual turbo setep on a ford 302 so that it will only run 1 turbo during everday driving but both when challenged? I was thinking it would work if I put a cutout in front of one of the turbos but let the other run. Would this work?
My first question is why? (Not ford, the cutout!!!!) A correctly sized turbo or two will do what you want in both everyday driving and when you stomp it. :3gears:
To change the p.s.i. from 8 to 18. With 8 p.s.i. on one turbo it will have 435 h.p. , with both at 18 it will have 630 h.p.. I'd put the cutout right between the header and turbo so that I can bypass the one turbo
You can just buy a boost controler that will limit the abount of boost the turbo or turbos can make. Adjust it low when your just driving, and turn it up when your serious...... That would be much easier.
I'm not a turbo guy, so I'm not completely sure, but I believe you electronically control the waste gate, which bleeds off pressure from both turbos. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.
There are electronic boost controllers. Greddy is supposed to make a good one. I THINK it's called the Profec-B. Do a google serach for boost controllers and that should get you started.
Maybe you are thinking of a sequential setup like they used with the TT Supras and RX7's. It can be done, but you have to have a fairly complicated set of valves and wastegates to get it to work. How much money you got? - Freed
I doubt I have that much. I am more or less just dreaming right now, but waiting for the parts to come up cheap on ebay
Go here and do some reading: Turbo Mustangs . Actually, there's a lot of good info on there that could be applied to any engine, not just Fords.
