hey guys howve you all been ive been off the sitte for a while but now im back, anyway i just need to get some advice on what carbs to run on my nailhead i was thinking of running dual 600's but i dunno if they are too much or too little carb for my combo anyway im gonna be running a t/a 413-401 cam with ported heads and larger valves and 10:5.1 compression and a port matched offy intake anyway any help[ would be appreciated..
They came stock with 2 carter afb 625's. I going back with 2 carter competition afb's 625 all polished up and purdy.
With that cam etc., and if you run headers that motor could handle twin 750's. I wouldn't run anything smaller then 650's. My 57 has a 425 with a milder cam, Poston NH300,probably something like TA's C113, Edelbrock B262 dual quad intake and I have twin Edelbrock TVS 650's with no headers just stock 57 dual exhaust manifolds and I plan on putting on 2 1/2" pipes. No porting. The nailhead likes big carbs. I have heard someone was running twin 800 quadrajets but I don't know what was in his motor. Good Luck, John Zeleznik
A Nice Pair Here are the Carter Comps that I took off my dual quad (replacing w/stock) PM me for details.
I installed 2 Edel. 650's on my father's 64 Riv. with a 401. Runs great with no flooding. Buicks love big carbs.
beutiful cad anyway how much for the carbs? oh yeah umm anyone know where i can find some hi po parts for a 472 cad motor? just got 1 from my dads freind man im just havin the l;ife here with all the engines in the garage 2 nailheads both 401's 1 454 chev, a ford 460and the 472 cad..
I have a pair of Carter 625 AFB's that I had on a 455, it ran great, they will need a rebuild but otherwise in good shape! PM me if you areinterested in buying them. Tim Mpls.
Damian Kolosik, I have sources for 500cid caddy engines. hopefully they will have parts for 472's. It can be found in the Auguse 2004 issue of Car craft, though.
