72 Skylark that I have reconditioned all drum brakes.Problem is: when i start driving the car I have almost no brakes for several blocks. The longer I drive the better the brakes get. By the time I get back home a little spin the brake petal is high and the car stop very well(for drum brakes). What is going on here???? Check the master cylinder, booster?????. I have gathered most of my parts for front disks ,but in the mean time I still need to stop. What is the minimum vaccum for brake booster? How long after the motor is shut off should the booster retain vacuum? Ken

Sounds like air in the system.

    brakes

Thanks George: I will bleed the entire system and if that fails I will proceed with disk brake conversion. Ken
