Saw a new GTO in person tonight and got to drive it. Yellow with automatic. At first look, it was bland on the outside and really good looking on the inside. Had a lot of room on the inside (important to me:grin: ) and it ran and drove great. Lots of power and high quality handling and ride. I have a friend that owns a dealership and he just got it in.
I bet the aftermarket already has a better looking hood in process and possibly other pieces. Too bad they didn't have someone with some "design flair" rework the body!
The dealership I work for got the first one about a month ago. Black automatic. Most recent one we got is a red 6-speed. Think the biggest gain over the f-body was the rear independent suspension. Interior rocks, and like George said, outside could use some tweaks. COME ON RAM AIR! 33k doesnt seem too far outta line.......
i've been watching media coverage of the new GTO and i have gotten the impression it is supposed to be underplayed. i suppose if it sells well at all, in the next version it will be released with ground effects, scoops and bigger wheels and tires. but this is GM taking a chance. what do you expect? i bet the aftermarket doesnt get on board either till later this year. till then any customization will have to be in the private sector. i personally think a decent set of wheels and tires will really make an improvement on it just as it is. how about a set of rallye II look-alikes?:3gears:
We have had them here for over a year now,and so can get body kits and bits and more colors than is availalable to you guys there. We reckon the pontiac front is ugly compared to the Monaro which what they're called originally. . we have 'em in 4 door sedan and in a ute (pick up) configuration also 4 door ute and just released in 4x4,not to sure if the 4x4 has the gen111 in it though!!
