You can't use the longer 350 connecting rod combined with the 3800 piston because when you add the 350 connecting rod length to the 3800 piston compression height it exceeds the 300 deck height by a large amount.
Ive been emailing the machine shop/engine builder with the British v8 site and havent been able to get a response. I want to build the 300/348 stroker also with a 4speed and 3:42 posi rear in a 64 wagon converted to 65(front clip)Noone does this around here and I think it will be a blast. What does anyone else think about that? Would love some input from all u guys.
I once put a 750 GTS 3 cyl water cooled, in a Massey Ferguson long track sled one year using 2nd 3rd and 4th gear of the 5 speed to drive the centrifugal clutch, and we to 1st place in Super Modified class in Minnesota at 163 mph with throttle left. Snow ridge conditions stopped us from any more speed. "Do's that count". If you build it they will come ! GL Wil
need rods, this stuff is always on ebay. http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=lentz+rods&_sacat=See-All-Categories you have to think outside of the box. :Smarty:
The deck of the 340/350 (and the V6?) is nearly 1-3/16" taller than the BOPR (215) so you'd have to pick that up in the piston pin height and rod length. Luckily Buicks use a low pin location so there's a lot to gain there. For instance, on my 340 I used 7" rods with a 1.282" compression height and a tighter ring package could be used, so this engine is feasible. But for my money, I'd start with the 300 block which is much stronger, not much heavier, and no worries with studs loosening and causing spun bearings and blown head gaskets. JB
