Hi Guy"s, I asked this on the GSCA BB, but its gone now. What is a good size aluminum rim for a 1972 GS. I am running 275/60r15 drag radials. Need to know the width and backspacing. I also have hoosier quick times, but they are 275/60d15"s. They look to be shorter, how will they affect performance in the 1/4 mile? The bfg drag radials hook real nice, but they load up with rocks, so preety much useless off the track.Again sorry for asking this again. Should I go wider on the rims for slicks in the future? Thanks, Chris
Chris I ran that Hoosier a few years ago on my '70 skylark,They were tight with a 15x10,51/2 BS. depending on how big of a slick you want to use that rim size will put a 10.5x30 inch tire under your car but if you don't want it to rub or don't want to roll the wheel lips I ould suggest a 15x8 wheel with 41/2 to 5" BS
Al rims I have the autodrags from centerline. 10wide 15 TAll use a 4 7/8" back spacing and it couldn't fit better. I had to smooth the inner lip of my chome molding for big bumps though, but that was it. I don't know how anybody could get any closer to the frame, or the fender. 10's are the limit for my 72 GS
