Weather was nice today so we ran down to the nearest track, which is Shakespeare County Raceway. Thought I might share some photos of what we're up to this side of the Atlantic. Sorry not much in the way of Buick content.

This was a "run what ya brung" day, nice selection of cars and almost no rice.

You reckon we've got the hang of this then? :)

Most of the cars were muscle cars or nostalgia rides, there were a lot of slingshots and alterds, lots of Outlaw Anglias, and a few pro streeters.

Only saw 3 Buicks. a Skylark which was running hard most of the day, a '68 Wildcat which was beautiful and a '71ish Riviera which had Hoosiers on but I never saw it on the strip.

Anyway, just in case you were curious what we Brits do. I'll post up pictures after the Nostalgia Nationals if you like, it may help explain where all your old iron has been disappearing to!

I always get the biggest kick out of how people in other countries view american car culture.

Those are some fantastic machines that would be right at home on any american road or drag-strip. I especially like the primered 67 Fairlane :TU:

If you really want to "americanize" your accent, it should be "Y'all recken we got this 'figured out?

England has a fantastic "american iron" connection with the 3.5 rover V8. :3gears:

Yeah, I reckon the Rover V8 is our equivalent of the small block Chevy. Really that motor has been shoe-horned into about every kind of car we've ever had over here and I reckon theres more Anglias and Populars with the Rover engine in than there is with the Ford motor by now!

I still remember the days of the old "GAS" class in which Anglias were one of the Kings. In addition to being light and quick they were so short coupled that you never knew whether they would make it to the end without rolling it. There was a team that ran them whose name was something like "S&S ". I remember one driver was KS Pittman I believe. I am going to the nostalgia drag events this year to see them do it again.

those two '57 Chevys ran together and boy was that a sight!

Theres a few cars out, theres now a gasser class for the old straight axle boys.

The "Roarin' Rat" was built waaaaay back when and left abandoned for years and is restored to how it was, the "Honky Tonk" is a fresh built car about a couple of years back.

We have "Outlaw Anglia", and they are, well, all Anglias and Populars. Some running low 8s, and mad as a bag of squirels all the way up the track...

It's cool to see a bunch of bad a$$ rides drag racing in another country, just shows you how hot rods bring people together no matter where you are.

I need to get my backside over to some of the European events. Theres some insane street car action going on in some of the Northern countries/Scandanavia and some huge events.
