I found two wires that were unplugged under my dash the other day, and I also found a little metal box, about an inch tall and two inches long and an inch deep. It mounts right next to the driver's side courtesy light. It is an aftermarket door buzzer. I am assuming it is supposed to buzz when

A.) the lights are on and the door is open, or
    B.) the door is open

This thing, when hooked up, does the exact opposite of what it should do. It rings when the door is shut, and it will turn off when i turn my lights on. What do I do to fix this problem? THe power wire comes off of the 12v for the courtesy light, and the other wire, comes from somewhere else.

I tested the wires and one has power when the door is closed. Do I have to wire this thing to the door jamb switch? THANKS ALOT FRIENDS

Don't know about a '76, but for '71-'73, the door buzzer is also the horn relay, and comes on when the door is open and the key is in the ignition.

I got sick of mine  , and pulled the guts out of the ignition switch. Who needs a buzzer? :Brow:
