The heading explains it...Please DONT SHOOT ME for stickin this car on this forum... Its going on eBay very shortly but I thought Id try to see if a few of my friends here, have any interest. I bought this car in 1994 from the second owner in Bennett, CO with 114K original miles! Had it shipped it home here. It was in storage here for 10 years. HAD TO sell my 70 GSX (JayBird) to pay bills, and to surprise my wife for her 50th Birthday, I had this 1960 VW secretly restored by a reputable VW dood, took over 5 years and a lot of GSX$$$. My wife is 50 y/o.. This car is 50 y/o. TOTAL restoration ..every nut/bolt/washer/screw/clip/hose/line/spring/bracket/tab..every piece was either restored or bought new from Wolfsburg West..no brazillian junk here. 164 Pieces were black powdercoated. Nothing cheap about that. Every body panel is ORIGINAL to the car...ONLY the floors were replaced. Of course new wiring harness, new bumpers, new trim and new interior...electric was converted to 12v system. New radial tires..(she was going to drive it all around town) Original REBUILT with 165 miles on the 36 HP numbers matching motor. Original Solex carb, original VW distributor car, this motor is awesome! The original transaxle sports the typical NON syncronized first gear noise, the other 3 gears are quiet. Original ARTIC ICE paint code was a direct result of sending for the paint code formula direct from Germany! Again, this VW beetle was either restored using original pieces, NOS and/or only the best from Wolfsburg West supplier. NOTHING left to chance. It was going to be her car for a long long time. A few items need to be done: ie: Horn not working, radio and wipers need a 6V to 12 V convertor. A trunk liner kit, and the original door handles are one year only and not reproduced, so the original door handles have pitting and should be restored. Everything else is correct. Runs, drives & stops excellent. My My..how things change. I am out of money and this economy has forced us into a situation that I just am not handling well... This car has gotta go. NADA Price Guide for a 1960 Rag Top sedan in totally restored condition is much less than what I've invested. go figure. ou: I am asking $19,000. ASKING PRICE. I am open to offers. Reasonable offers. If YOU? or someone you KNOW? would be interested, I have tons of restoration pix, gobs of history including the original BIRTH SHEET from Stiftung Automuseum In Germany and all kinds of stories to share. PLEASE..pass this along to your friends. I will post it on eBay very soon. Wheelz, Tampa Bay
VERY sharp Volkswagen there. I've always had a soft spot for these old air-cooled engines. Very neat.:TU:
my dad purchased a 79 florida blue super beetle convertible back in 1994 (?) and i trailered it from florida. it was a great car. he spent a lot of money restoring it and kept it until april 2006 when he could no longer drive a stick shift. he sold it to a coworker who is now enjoying it. good luck with your sale. by the way wheels - which heater system is in the bug? tubes or a stove?
I agree that everyone has a 'soft spot for bugs' I just need to find someone with a thick wad of green dead President :dollar: to feel the same way!! btw the heater is tube system and is also all new. and included is an original spare tire and tool kit! ..and gosh, sooo much more...

THANX for all the kudos guys! I took most of the pix you see at a local park and EVERY PERSON who came upon me and my camera, had a positive comment! It was nice to hear good things in a sucky economy. The Samba, is where I bought a few original VW parts for this car....very cool site with JUST ABOUT as much knowledge on VWees as we have here on BUICKs!!! :beer Wheelz, Tampa Bay
Just so you don't feel like a complete outcast Wheelz, I'm just finishing one too. Just got it back from the trim shop with a new white top and gut. Picked it up on The Samba a few years ago. I built it for my daughter but I'm having too much fun driving it. She may never get it...
I bought a 68 yesterday, I havent been in one since high school. They are a blast to drive. Good luck with the sale Wheelz, someone will love that one!
Sweet Car. I also built one for my wife, of course she picked the color. Talk to John over at: http://www.thebugshop.org/index.htm He might be able to help you out.
