I thought it was a good idea to oil prime my new 464 on the stand to check for leaks.

Well I hooked up the front and rear oil gages (drilled the hole in the bell housing/ right cam galley.............look ). All looked good no leaks anywhere. Since I did not have the heads installed there was one. I was standing at the front-right of the motor. After running the drill for about a minuet to compare the gages, I saw this puddle of oil growing on the garage floor out the corner of my eye. There is an oil hole that is about 10 o'clock of the number one cylender that gets pressure for the pre 1970 rockers that was/is open when you do no have the heads on. :Dou:

I must have pumped out almost a quart of new 10W-40 oil :af:

    Mike,
It's much more fun when you don't realize the oil is running down the front of your jeans and filling your workboot!
Ask me how I know. :Dou:

Another one of life's lessons.
