I have a ''71'' GS 455 ragtop. I am pulling the AC out and would like to replace with just the blower and heater box. Will the holes in the firewall work just the same, AC or no AC? If so are parts still made?

Check out the company; "American Graffitti." They have a heater box that is made to convert an AC car to a no AC car. It gives you all the room in the engine compartment but still uses all the stock heater/vent/defrost controls. Just punch in "A.C. delete - chevelle" on e-bay, you will get their product.
    Good luck.

If you want to delete AC and have it look stock you need to weld the hole in the fire wall closed and cut a new length wize hole and new holes for a different heater core. The kit mentioned fom Am gr will work but does not look stock if thats what you want. You need to locate a junk non-ac lark and strip all relevent parts. I have contemplated same job. Find an assembly manual and study firewall differences.

Thank you for the info. The cover they have looks like clean conversion.

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll take the easy way out with the cover.

I purchased the delete box from Am Graffitti. I really like it a lot! The only problem is, for all the money you pay, you have to drill all the holes yourself, and the cutout for the electrical plug, and the vent hole for the blower motor. But it looks great!! I would replace your heater core at this point, make sure you get an "a/c" heater core, because your delete box will allow for the heater core intake and exit in the same position as your a/c system did.Good luck

How hard was the delete box to install? I want to do it, but don't want to have to pull the fender or other major parts.

I only removed my inner fender, which was not that bad at all, and gave me all the room I needed. The delete box fit well, and went easy, but I also have my motor out, so that makes a huge difference also.
