:moonu:  what gives? Is anyone else tired of hearing car craft trying to brag about not being "chevy craft" when 80% of their articles and feature cars this year were chevies?I'm sick of them saying how diverse they are in the different brands they feature . the jan. 2003 issue has a letter on pg. 11 from a person pointing this out and they reply by saying how they covered the amc and olds shows and a bunch of ford articles.BFD!!!SSDD!!!Still I ask, where are the BUICK articles and features? there was only one mention of a Buick and that was in their tech. Q & A section in the back about a 455.That was all I could find! What happened to the 2 or 3 pg. features they would occasionally have? You don't even see them anymore. I'm sick of the so called big three i.e. car craft , hot rod, and popular hot rodding acting as though Buick's never existed! If we don't send in any pictures or descriptions of our cars people will continue to think Buick's are "old people"cars, and they will never get the respect they truly deserve.the magazines obviously aren't going to find the cars to feature on their own.Maybe it's because they're scared of the Buick power and torque putting their precious little chevy and ford build-ups to shame! We need to send in pictures and descriptions of some of our member's finest and even not so finest rides with some prices to show them Buicks are not just for rich people to build and that it can be done on a reasonable budget. We need to get some decent exposure in these magazines and change the waythings are currently being done at the big three.Magazine wise as well as the automakers.thanks for letting me get this out of my system , I just don't think I can renew my subscription if they keep this up in car craft. Ive just seen way too many build-ups on chevies and fords.:stmad:I would really like to hear some other opinions on this matter

My view: Great! Let them think Buicks are slow, makes it much more fun to lay waste.

And for the rest of your question - when you don't understand something, look at it from a MONEY standpoint and then see if the situation makes sense...

Is it just me or dose anybody else get tired of looking at a 350 chevy build-up in every single issue of chevy craft.

    Perhaps

I imagine there is pressure from major advertisers to print articles featuring their latest and greatest parts. Since most major manufacturers don't have much of a Buick offering, Buicks aren't covered.

If there are less Buick how-to articles, then less Buick promotion. Less promotion, less interest in Buicks. Less interest, less Buick features.

Although we pay more for restoration and speed parts, I think we pay far less for good core project vehicles. Try finding a rustfree, low mileage Chevelle or Camaro for less than 10K. (At least in Chicago). One good thing about being ignored I guess.:Do No:

    Just my thoughts.

Honestly, I own chevies, and I'm getting sick of 350 SBC build ups. It's getting to the point I'd rather read about them building Ford 302's... :(

They have to do a lot of Chevy build ups. They don't last long enough to really get a lot of fun out of them other than building them. My Buick - 7 seasons of 300+ passes at the track!. Might re-ring and bearing this year for fun.

Oh c'mon now, y'all know they don't hate Buicks. AMX owners have the same complaint- not enough popularity, so the cars don't get featured often.

    I second that!

"pft, it ain't fast if it ain't chevy" = Easy Mark

Jeff: You're right, I just got my Chevycraft today and found that of 100 pages, 39 are devoted exclusively to Chevys. The other pages are mostly ads to sell Chevy parts save the 12 pages devoted to a nice mixed calendar. Thank Poston for their 2 small ads related to Buicks. The best part of the magazine I thought was the girl pictured on page 18. I cut it out, saved it and threw the rest in the trash. I already buy from Poston.

I for one am questioning whether or not to re-new this time around.
After 47 years, is there really anything new in how to build up a SBC?
    Do I care? No. :puzzled:
I'm leaning towards buying an issue at the news stand if there happens to be something interesting in it.

It's kind of funny, but in 1982, I bought my 66 4speed hardtop as a sophomore in high school and had no idea that Buick had made any other GS's at all. A friend of mine with a 69 Z28 showed me a CC article about the GSCA about a year later, and I was finally connected with the rest of the Buick world. Granted, I don't get CC, but I have to thank them for that first connection. As nice as it is to get some print, I think we all are used to the usual "what kind of Pontiac is that" routine from the locals, and it will continue. Buick never advertised their cars as the worldbeaters they were, or are now, and they didn't sell a whole lot of them. I feel very fortunate to be aware of them, and feel that they were and still are a bargain buy. I advise any of my friends who voice an interest in musclecars to consider the GS as an affordable dependable and well appointed choice, but they always seem to go for the GTO or Chevelle. That's OK with me, as I trounce them on the line. There are those who listen to the hype, and those who put their hard earned money on the best, just like the old days. In addition, I feel strongly that there is a certain type of person who buys the GS. I have met all of you in one way or another, and know that you are intelligent, knowledgeable about all of the musclecars and their values. You are all thrilled to see another GS (or Chevelle for that matter) in nice shape, and are more than willing to lend each other a hand or advice. That is the Buick owner. I have also met a lot of Chevy owners, and they don't seem to know much except Chevy, and are less inclined to help their fellow Chevy owner make his car start, let alone go faster. That's why they need CC and all of the other Chevy mags. Someone has to tell them how to do it right, I guess. I wouldn't trade shoes for the world. I can go out to my garage to enjoy my cars, and don't really care if the car mags of the world ever snap a picture of them(except Collector Automobile, perhaps). I hope you all got a copy of the early GS article they did a while back. I take it out and drool at least one a week at the blue 66 convertible! Anyway, I am proud to be a Buick owner in your company. Very respectfully, Dan
