I emailed the seller to let him know that Buick never made a GS-350 Stage 1. He emailed me back and said that not only does he have a build sheet to document the rare 350 Stage 1 option, but a former GM executive confirmed it.

Here is a guy that not only is ignorant, but wishes to remain that way.

Here is the response he sent to me-

Then I should throw out my build sheet and write a letter to the GM exec who confirmed it. Right?

I wrote him back that, yes he should. I did respond that I would love to see that build sheet.

    Well I couldn't resist.
I sent him a message and asked if I could see a copy of the documentation of the Stage 1 option since it must be a prototype!

I'll see if he sends anything back to me. Probably not.
I've gone to great lengths to explain that people with '64 Skylark GS's didn't have a Gran Sport before.

"700R4 Automatic Transmission" Even if he had a rare car, it isn't what it was any more anyway.

If you re-read the description carefully, he points out that the car is really a Skylark and that the parts were harvested from his factory documented 350 Stage 1. So he's selling a Skylark convertible for $26k! :Dou: It looks like a nice car, but its a $10k- $12 car at the very best if it looks as nice in person as it does in the pics.

I don't know much about 'A' body Buicks. But I know there were no 1969 350 Stage 1

C'mon guys, it's obviously a stage 1.....didn't you see the decal on the air cleaner? How much more documentation do you need?

Were purple floor mats a Stage 1 option as well?

    It's also running a 68 interior.

He sent me an email back also.

He is just sure he had a stage 1 350. Even if there ever was such a beast, The parts he said he recovered are things like the hood, The intake the carburetor and A arms, So he isn't claiming to have any of the main performance pieces like the cam or the heads.
Pretty much his ad says it's just a Skylark what parts to dress it up.

Looks pretty nice, but I would be hesitant to buy a car from someone who spins a story like that.

I know a guy , every summer (35-30 years ago) he would have a junk yard in North Alabama build a jeep to order, from wrecked jeeps. The Jeep would come with a 'Rebuilt' title. At the end of the summer, he would flip the Jeep (not necessarily for a profit, sometimes he would even lose money).

One summer he told the junk yard he wanted a "Laredo" jeep. They sent him a Jeep, all decked out in Laredo decals and paint.

He drove it all summer. But, instead of flipping to an individual; He decided it would be a good idea to take it to a Jeep dealer to trade for a new one.

He got his feelings hurt when the dealer ordered him and his Jeep off the lot. And said, "Don't come back!!"

He honestly didn't think he had done anything wrong. And didn't understand why a Jeep dealer would have a problem with a Frankenstein Jeep with a 'rebuilt' title on their lot.

I dunno - I think its the only real 69 GS350 stage1 because of the air cleaner breather on the drivers side

The interior is a mix of 68 style with some 'custom' work... I was going to list ALL of the issues with this car...But, the owner loves it and think he has gold. And not a single one of us is going to change his mind that this car is anything different..

It appears to have one of the old Poston aluminum intakes on it. I believe these had "Stage 1" cast in the top for some unknown reason. Maybe this is why he thinks its a Stage 1...

I had a guy here once, that swore his car was a GS350 Stage 1, cause it had one of 'those' intakes on it!!!!:Dou:

Come on guys... you have to know that it's the spare tire cover, blue trunk carpet, and the special trunk side boards that actually made up the 350 STG 1 package in 68/9.. those are the real hard items to find..

Everybody still has that "stage 1" alum intake and aftermarket chrome valve covers

Man, how many times do I have to go over this..

And I see it has the ultimately rare day-glow purple floor mats... wow.. a show stopper, easily worth the asking price...

It really doesn't look like that bad of a car, god only knows what his reserve is. With all this BS in the wright up he probably thinks its worth that $30 grand appraisal so it will be for sale for a while.
