I am not sure what you mean by a baffle plate. I think you mean adapter plate, and yes you will need one. It needs to be for a spread bore(quadrajet) to a square bore.

This is assuming you are using a 66 or later carb. If it is from the fifties, you will have to check the bolt pattern but I think it will fit.

The carb from the sixties will have small primary (front) ports and much larger secondary(rear) ports.
The carb from the fifties will have nearly identical size front and rear ports.

If you mean the metal gasket under the carb you probably need it. Do the earlier manifolds have the exhaust passage like the later ones? The mtal gasket seals and protects the carb from the exhaust gasses, while allowing the exhaust to heat the carb on engine start up. Sounds like you have a Rochester Square bore from the 50's.

Yeah the metal plate under the carb. I noticed my 4 barrel set up for my 55 has one, so I was wondering if I need one for the 59. The carb and intake are off a 57.

Oh yeah, dose anyone got a part number for that.
