Just in the final process of buying my old sweetheart, a Centurion 73 Conv. The one most perfect has no boot and the less favorable has a boot. I would like to buy the nice car, and then buy the boot on the used market, but I have the feeling it is not just that easy ???

.. Rick Martinez has one on his and it looks so classy and elegant. I'd bet they could be repoped by a good glass layer but they'd prollly need an original to make the mold

Demand might not be there to justify a re-pop. But how about making a similar one to fit the A-body cars?

That would be cool... I don't think one was ever offered for A-Body cars

Turns out there are repops--saw 2 on ebay plus 1 original.

Still think it would be great if someone made them for a-body cars.

I found one in the trunk of a boneyard Eldorado years ago, fully dressed with hardware, etc.. Still have it on my Grand Ville. I do see them on e-bay all the time, but most OEM ones look real rough!

Rhett that Grand Ville is beautiful. How much if you were to sell? (not to start a new thread in the wrong location of anything.) :error:

There are repros. They are better designed where they join. Stronger. The same place has all the hardware too.

All the full size GMs used the same glass boot from 71-76. Cadillacs were most popular to have them so try searching for that.

Ken - hadnt thought of selling it until recently, I've had it for 23 years! It's beautiful but by no means mint, but I have one of NOS everything ahead of the restoration that'll never happen... I dont want to hijack this thread, so PM me if you really want to know...

Actually Buick & Cadillac were the only divisions to offer them - there is some evidence that a few Oldsmobile's got them in a special promotion, Pontiac and Chevy never had them as an option. That said, lots of people retrofitted them onto all the full size GM cars.

I have a perfect one on ebay now, complete with everything needed to convert a car with a soft boot to a hard boot. http://www.ebay.com/itm/331370622941?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
