I *really* like thier crank trigger set up, seems well thought out. Having individual coils packs is VASTLY superior to the standard coil. If I had $650 to throw at my ignition I'd be on this. They also have parts for EFI kits!
I had checked into this a few months back. Price through local vendor $600 with no mount bracket. System is a bit short on features compared to the MSD programable or Holley pro strip. I had planned to get the system and a complete system with Holley pro strip and do some dyno testing between the two. After further thinking I have decided not to do this, if this system is all it is supposed to be why haven't I seen one one a pro stock or any of the NMCA cars if they are so wonderful. I discussed the use of the system with the local dealer for a nitrous application and on the operation of the timing curve control and was not comfortable with the answers I was getting. This may have been the dealer or the system and I have not found the answers I was looking for yet. I am still checking into this and if I end up going through with the test I will post the results. I am trying to get the dealer to loan me a unit for the test with an offer to buy if it beats the Holley and MSD combo on the dyno, last I talked to him he said he would consider it and to call him back.
MSD is going to release a DIS system that has 8 individual coil packs instead of 4 doubles which will double the energize time. Jim B. gets to test some of the new MSD parts maybe he knows something about this new system from them.
Thanks Dennis, if you get the results please post them. I'm hearing a lot of talk about the digital mallory systems over the analog MSD... I'd love to see some dyno differences...
if i had the money i would go dis. my lil' z24 is dis. it provides much more spark. but then you also loose simple tunability. my z24 is nothing but trouble cause it costs sooooo much money to tune, but then again, the whole car is comp controled. i like the simple ways (costs less when i can understand what i'm doing
Your old HEI/distributor I'm an old-timer who is in an arrested-state-of-the-art, back when points and condensers were the thing. But I hear that HEI will do my old 67 Skylark more good than viagra does me. IF so, any of you youngsters who wants to chuck their old for the new distributorless can look me up. I'm interested. BTW, will a HEI system for a 455 fit my 300 that's in the car right now? Doyle (just a little thick...)
Doyle, The 455 HEI will not work on a 300. You sound like a prime candidate for getting an HEI conversion done by IgnitionMan. check out http://www.davessmallbodyheis.com/
The 455 HEI WILL fit the 300...You just need to swap the gear at the bottom of the 455 HEI distributor shaft for the one that is on the 300 points distributor...
