OK, I'm looking at the old points distributor that was in the trunk (an HEI distributor was put in it) of the crusty '69 Skylark I bought to donate it's precious parts to my '68. I see that there is no tanged washer between the regular spacer/washer and the body of the distributor. WWW searches as to whether it had one on its born on date have been fruitless. Even the Chassis Service Manual doesn't have an exploded view for verification. I've never seen a distributor without that tanged washer, and the up/down play is more than I like to see. Anyone got a 350 distributor to look at and see if the tanged washer was used? I don't like the size of the HEI distributor and I'm looking to put the thing to stock. There is no need for HEI on this car. I guess in a way there was, in the sense that this original distributor was pretty filthy, with corroded contacts that would have caused lower secondary voltage, etc. Those problems no longer exist; I cleaned it up pretty good. The only other issue I see with it is that the centrifugal advance weights don't seem to return to zero.

    TIA for any help.
