I recently bought some wheels that were shipped @28.9lbs ea. Unfortunately 1 was damaged so I shipped it back @33.4 lbs
I don't have a scale to check the weight and shouldn't have to, I trust the people that I deal with until something like this starts happening.
As petty as this is it just bugs me. I hate dealing with inconsistent companies or people for that matter.
    Am I just nitpicking here?

I'm sure whoever shipped them to you makes their own labels and "fudged" it a bit to save themselves a few dollars. If they ship tons of parts, the FedEx guy isn't going to check every package for weight, just if it feels close. It could save a big company thousands of dollars over many packages being called a few pounds light. When you shipped it back your FedEx store probably actually weighed it.

I just gotta tell this story: About three years ago the Bride and I were flying to Ft. Myers, FL from Boston. We had a bunch of stuff packed into our soon-to-be-checked bags. As we got out of our ride we were approached by a porter who asked if he could carry our bags. I said "yes", and asked if with his experience he could tell if he thought my bag was overweight. Without missing a step he said "44 pounds". When I checked the bag, sure enough - the scale said 44 lbs.

    Lucas,
I do believe you are right. After having a few local conversations also.
One of my local distributors says 3-4 lbs. is nothing at all, He deals in loaded pallets with a direct shipper and says they are consistently off by more than 100lbs.
So I guess no big deal, you want a 700 hp engine I'll guess and send you this 450horse no problem(you will never check it) Close enough!

I have a FedEx account and I can tell you that their equipment does weigh the packages as they go through the system. I cant say if they weigh them all but I got a letter once from FedEx dinging me on a package. I must of weighed it light and they sent me an invoice charging me the extra money.

We ship straight from work and make our own labels......that's how I knew what most likely happened......
