In my search to find new armrest pads for my 70 GS 350 I have found a plethora of armrest pads for 11" bases, which are four-door armrests. I have also found 14" pads, but my bases are a good 18". Year One has 16" pads, AP268M10, listed for coupes and conv. That sounds good and all but when I was talking to rep from OPGI he said that by sized armrest base was a rarely taken extra large option... :Do No:

Is any of this true? I cannot find any Buick documentation stating there were three sizes of armrest bases. If so that makes me wonder then if the coupes and verts had two armrest options, what about the pre-cut door panels and chrome back pieces?

As usual OPGI has no idea what they are talking about when it comes to Buicks. Most all 70 GS cars had the 16" armrests. A minority were ordered with the standard interior and short armrests.

There are two sizes for the 70-72's..the short and the longer ones you have. Like Jim said...only 70's had both long and short...all got the shorter ones after 70 I think.

The long chrome bases are repro'd by Parts Place. You can find replacements {bases/pads/chrome plates} in some bigger cars like Delta 88's, bigger Buicks, and Chevies, etc of similar vintage. You can also recover your armrest pads if you have patience and the foam is still decent.

As I was begining to realise from reading this forum, OPGI might not always be a good source of accurate information. I have all the pieces I need, chrome trim, back plate, and bases, I just need the pads. This makes order parts a lot more straight forward now.

    Thanks for the quick replies!
