Did GS's come with these?

Decided to work on son Joshua's ram air cleaner tonight(it's from a '72 car, triangle left),that we bought at the BPG Natls swap meet last year, and this embossed decal was on it. I thought all GS cars had a GS350 or GS455 emblem only :Do No: ? It looked to be the original one.

I don't know for sure but that looks like a skylark aircleaner. I too thought that all GS's origianally had GS before the engine size.

My GS is a very early 1970 GS (pointed lenses, plastic radiator cover, etc) and it had the same sticker on the fiberglass portion of the GS aircleaner.

    Looks like a Skylark sticker.

A GS should have the 'GS-350' sticker on the snorkel, and I'm not sure, but I've seen a '350-4 Hi Comp' sticker on the air cleaner lid. I just can't remember if it was for the GS models or the Skylark model :Dou:

Im pretty sure the high compression 350-4 sticker was on the GS model, 315 HP and 410 ftlbs.

    gs4u2c Is that a 442?

That is correct for the 70-71 GS 350. If you notice, the radius is correct for the duct, whereas the 350 sticker above is designed for the lid.

Here's my old GS350 engine bay. I can't say for certain if it's original, but besides a paint job, everything else on the car was untouched when I purchased it in 1992.

PS - Sorry for the dusty motor :spank:

It looked a little like this in 1970.

BTW - My 1970 assembly manual does not list this exact sticker available with the dual snorkel air cleaner. Does anyone have a 1972 assembly manual?

My '71 has the 350-4 sticker. Faded just like the one in the first photo.

Marco, not to doubt you, but yours looks awfully nice to be 20 years old. When I got mine in '85 the decal was already faded. And it appears your power brake booster has been painted. Any chance someone had been doing a little tinkering? :Do No:

As for the difference between a Skylark sticker and a GS sticker...like gs4u2c said, the radius' are different. A Skylark sticker won't fit on the air duct of a GS, only on the lid. GS stickers are much longer also. :TU:

    Absolutely!

I only had the history of the car from 1988. Anything could have happened since then.

That's where a 1972 assembly manual comes into play...

    Thanks Darren :beer

I'll go out on a limb here, and guess that the GS350 stickers are for a '69. That year was the only year the GS350 was made with the hood scoops. You had the GS350 and GS400. In '70 it became GS and GS455. :TU:

My 69 GS California did have GS-350 decal on the air cleaner, so that could be.

I too have an all original 1970 GS 350. The decal says 350-4. I know this is original. Not sure about the 72 cars. :Do No:

Thnx guys for the info on some of you decals. The 350-4 decal I showed came off the snorkel of the air cleaner we bought at the meet. It's was a '72 one for sure(trianangle left side),with a plastic snorkel. My car was an original GS 350, and my air cleaner is the same as Josh's. I just thoght that all GS's came with either a GS350 or GS455 snorkel decal :Do No: . I haven't seen as many GS's as most of you'all have through the years, just never seen that 350-4 on one. Thnx, Joe X.
