Most came without a posi. Finding a posi in a real GS is kind of rare, in my opinion. I have parted so far 3 GS350's including one with a 4sp and they were without a posi. In our stable we have 2 GS's one a 71GS350 with a 4 sp and a 72GS455 fully loaded both without posi. George
I've parted out 2 GS's over the years-One was 70 GS 350 4-speed,it was non-posi. The other was 71 GS 350,it had a posi. Just some info for you.
A trend I've noticed is posi's were ordered on a much higher percentage of cars ordered & shipped to northern dealers cars. Two wheels applying traction in the winter seemed to be a big selling point with dealers in Canada & far northern US. Such a selling point, it was a must when dealers were putting their orders together. Of course, m ajority of these far northern cars were factory non a/c as well, so lower gear ratio, to boot . Too bad rust killed most of these cars & most have been crushed. Got Posi? :3gears: Roger
Hey Bob.G80 (posi) was an "option".My GS was ordered with it.Not all Canadian cars sold were so equipped, but probably more up here than down south.Later,Tony.
Many "classics" are long gone from up north, this is true (our climate and salt). One of our regions biggest shows last summer had close to 1,000 cars (most non a/c) and most about 30 years and older :TU: Later,Tony.
I believe only stage 1 cars were standard equipped with a posi rear. So if it was not a stage one 455 it was not standard equipment.
Just to add some posi info for the South. Texas- Taylor Motor Company - Taylor TX 70 GS 455 4spd Performance Axle with Posi "has AC" Balinger Motor Co. Balinger, TX 70 GS 350 No Posi
