I was talking to a local racer who said it went from around 2700 during the morning time trial to 2900 at the first round. Does anyone know what happened to the air between round 1 and 2 on Sunday?

My "new" car kept going faster each time and I'm pretty sure the air was getting worse. Not sure why though (not that I'm complaining).

I got nailed by the weather also. I'll post some of the weather info I had from my equipment.

    Sunday

DA was around 1500' when we arrived at the track at 8:15.
DA was around 2500' for the time trial.
DA was around 2800' for first round.
DA was around 3100' for second round.

My car had been running around 11.37 at a DA of 2800' on Thur. and Fri. I went an 11.28 with a DA 1600' on Sat. night. My car was really fast on Sun. In the second round I would have run an 11.29 at a DA of 3100'.

In talking with some others who have more experience with weather stations than I do here is what I learned. On Sun. the humidity was dropping like a rock. However the temp was still raising pretty fast as it was pretty cold in the early am. So even though the DA was still in line with readings earlier in the week the air had a lot less water in it. These motors won't burn water.

As someone who is fairly new to using a weather station I guess I learned a valuable lesson. I really should have been logging temp., bar. pressure and humidity all week as well as looking at DA.

Hope this helps. If I've posted any info in error or if anyone has anything to add, please speak up. I'm always open to being corrected and I'm happy to learn something new.

My best time was Sunday morning 12.35@106 mph.

I watched S8, Q16, and SP run before my class and best I could tell, everyone was breaking out by 0.05. I dialed a 12.42 and clocked a 12.43 on the brakes (95mph)!

In round 2, I dialed 12.39 and broke out with 12.37 off the throttle at the lights (102mph). That was a solid 12.30 pass, based on the time slip.

I was wondering if the engine was just getting broke-in and that's why it got fast, but you're right Shayne, everyone else was doing the same thing.

Also check your 60' ft time when comparing the et's for the different DA's.The traction changed thru the day on sunday.A .01 difference in 60 usually is about a .02 in the quarter.

Gary right on, i was .04 off in 60' last pass, which put me .08 off in ET. otherwise i would have run on the dial (again) Randy

My green car usually falls into that pattern too. The white one I have not learned yet. These are my times with no tuning changes-

    60 ft & 1000ft (and ET/MPH where reliable):
    Sat TT2 - 1.723 & 10.252 (12.441@105.89)
    Sat TT3 - 1.745 & 10.247 (12.427@106.39)
    Sun TT1 - 1.671 & 10.170 (12.352@106.14)
    Rd1- 1.711 & 10.202 <it should have slowed down more, but it didn't>
    Rd2- 1.673 & 10.154 <again, picked up some more>

Oh well. I'll have to learn this car from scratch.
