For anyone that's interested, here is Marty's responce; Hello Andy, Thanks for writing, I am afraid the information you recieved from Tom is correct and you are welcome to share with the board as I am not able to get on there much do to an overwhelming work load. I scrapped the single plane manifold due to poor performance and poor casting qualities. I have not written off the single 4 bbl intake entirely but instead have begun a dual plane 360 degree manifold. I have no expected date of completion as I work on it as time allows. I would be excited to see it marketable this summer but that is only a hope. Thank you, Marty Sounds like his initial design has been scrapped and he is working on a replacement. At least he's not totally abandoning the product.
Thanks again for your help guy,i put the Demon carb on today!!!!!Simply amazing!!!!!!! I did find out that the hood to carb hit at first, had to trim the carb stud close. Was even using a low profile K&N filter.:TU:
Doc, I once read that the aluminum shrinks as it cools, so the molds must be made oversize. I don't know if that is accurate or not..... I would certainly be happy with an aluminum copy of the original, they supposedly flow well. Thanks for the info. Wasn't Marty's design a single plane?? I know it was posted somewhere... But it's good to see he's trying an alternative design.....Let's hope for the best!ray:
I make my own adapter out of 3/8" steel plate.... kills 2 birds with one rock... takes the place of the heat plate and is very thin for hood clearance.... also will not warp....OK, 3 birds with one rock... I have access to a plasma cutter... to cut out the basic unit.. and then i finish it out with a die grinder and drills and taps.... I make it fit the carb rather than the intake because I am running a 3 barrell... easier that way and keeps the intake center divider whole...
From what I recall, his initial design was a single plane. I think a realistic date for this new manifold is sometime early next year. Hopefully it actually works out this time.
