I've seen a few threads now about dropping a Chevy mill into a classier kind of car, and I was wondering... How hard would it be to drop a classier motor into a Chevy? Namely, how tough would it be to put a '86 3.8 Turbo into my '77 Nova? Been thinking about this for a while, and it just kinda seems like a good idea, even if it's just the mileage uppage, lord knows I need it. Flame away fellas, but I just need to know how tough it's gonna be to do it. Brado
Shouldn't be a problem. If you ever are at the GS Nationals, you'll see some interesting cars that have the Turbo V-6 in them(for example:1969 AMX and 1978 Datsun 260Z) Pretty cool stuff!
No Flames, but to offset the cost of the conversation you'd have to drive it for many years to realize any benefit from any possible gas milage increase. Unless you get the motor free.:TU:
If you have EVERYTHING, as in known working motor/tranny, wiring harness, and ECM its not that bad......from those I've talked to. .....but as a current thread points out - there's alot going on with those motors and getting to "stuff" needing repair isn't always fun The BEST world situation would be to have a complete donor car to pull every little thing off of that you need
The last time I looked I remember a T-R in YOUR driveway, Alan. C'mon and donate it for the cause.... :moonu:
Nah, no donations needed, 'cause it's gonna be a while before I can do it. I got accepted at UTI (yay for me :TU: ) starting at the end of June. Once I'm done a couple of years from now, the projects can begin.
