Whats up with the major difference in price for Buick deep sump pans versus chevy or ford offerings? It just seems insane that the same amount of material and same type of welding would cost twice as much for us Buick folks that just want a deeper pan.

Sorry for the useless cranky post but sometimes it feels like we're getting the shaft.

Supply and demand. Most manufacturers sell about 500 deep sump Chevy pans for every one for a Buick. Things that are nitch built in small numbers are usually much more expensive then something that is mass produced. A great example of this is to compare Chevy small block roller rockers to the offerings for a Buick. You can get a set of Summit rollers cheaper then a set of stamped stock Buick ones. All about supply and demand.

Supply and demand.. Suppose I knew that but it just seemed a bit out of context when comparing something as technologically simply as a oil pan versus a full race aluminum head or crate engine.

Maybe someday we'll have a 500+ hp Buick crate engine for 6k.
