    4=Model year '64
    43=Skylark
    67=2 dr. convertible
    004721= sequential build no. of the car.

    1-4-10 I believe is the Time Built Code representing 1= 1st month,4='64,10=10th day.

    My book was published in '81, for Canadian dealer use. The '64 model year is a hard one to track in this year,info. is minimal at best.Trim/paint starts @ '68.
    Someone else here can fill in the holes, I'm sure.

    The 43 in the VIN represents a Skylark V-6 in an American car. 44 would represent a V-8 car. Canadian built units don't appear to be diferent.

  3. thanx Steve for all your help.

    c paint is artic white the car has a 300 aluminum 4 barrel. this where iam at so far .

    Cheers.

    Post what you have & I'll look at it in the parts book.
    May not be able to tell you more than you already know , but I can give it a whirl.

    Ruston mate,

    I've been away, sorry about that........

    Let me see:

    2C 1-1
    STYLE 64-4337 BODY BF5540
    TRIM 131 PAINT HHA
    ACC A20 B70 B80 1780

    64 = model year

    43 = Skylark

    37 = 2 drs coupe

    sure it's BF and not FB for the factory code ? FB = Flint, Michigan.

    Trim 131 = blue cloth or vinyl

    Paint HHA = Wedgewood Blue lower body, Wedgewood Blue upper body, can't figure out the A...

    That's all I can find right now: one of my books is in the copy shop..... :Dou:

    And 2C could mean February, 3rd week.
    But I really think it should be 02C.....

    Good onya Erik! I'll get down to the shed this arvo and double check on the FB code. :beer :beer
    What book have you got that has the info pertaining to the early Buicks like mine??

    Ruston,

    I looked into the "Catalog of American Car ID Numbers 1960-69"

    All American major brands are in it, good book :TU:
    Loads of info on VIN decoding, engine numbers, trim codes etc.
    Also bought the 1950-59 and 1970-79 editions.

    The other book is a GM code book, with a lot of info about the Body Number Plate in it. But a mate of mine wanted a copy of it, so it's in a copy shop now.

    I'll look into my old magazines and car books if I can find any articles about '64 Skylarks, will scan them for you, but give it some time: busy, busy, busy here.........

    How's the old Gold Coast today mate, good surf ? :beer :beer

    PS: Could be that BF code is right after all: for some reason the codes for the Fremont, Baltimore and Kansas City factories are missing in the list...... :Do No:

    Erik, I think I have the catalogue book,but it does'nt list the ACC codes.
    The numbers are A20 B70 B80 1780
    Its 30deg C down here on the coast,surfs up! not that I'm not much of a surfer,I'm still waiting for my busted leg to come good,been over twelve months now,a lizard can grow a tail back quicker! I'm more likely to be down the shed than down the beach, besides it's dangerous being down the beach with skin cancer and scantily clad girls!! Much safer tearing up the highway as I've only got revenue raising cops to avoid!!
    If you find anything on 64's i'm sure the other 64 guys would appreciate them as well as we don't see too much on them here, probably 'cos they have got rusted out quarters :pp
    Thanks again and good to hear from ya :TU:

    Rettie,
    There's a place I've purchased from in your area. They can but from all the US suppliers. Seems the prices were pretty good when I add up the freight & duties to buy direct myself. Believe they order in lots....might save in handling.
    Problem I found is that they can be very slow. "Not sure when it's coming but call us again next week" Otherwise no problems.
    They are in Port Coquitlam......just can't find their card right now.You might have a phone directory. I remember their card has a beautiful '63-'64 Impala in a nice turquoise.
    Another good source on your end is Buick World Inc., Enumclaw ,WA. They salvage & part out a lot of these old cars. 1-360-825-3787. Ask for Gib. Great guys to deal with.

    Perhaps a tank sheet is over the gas tank. Otherwise unless it is a Canadian car there is no 3rd party paperwork source for 71 model year cars.
