Does anyone know the engine codes for a 70 Skylark Custom on the protect-o-plate. According to my 1970 assembly manual, looking at the middle row of characters on the left, the O is the engine type and the 212 engine code. I cannot find this info anywhere??

It is hard to read your plate...

"188" is interior "14" ext paint "B" black v top
    "O" as you said & "212"
"JH" is trans & "161" code

"444" Sky "37" hardtop "0" 1970 "H" Flint, the rest is the vin.
"OS" (I really can't read these 2 letters) is rear gear + or - posi.
"6" is pwr brakes maybe, "8" is tape player maybe.

This is off the top of my head, so don't think it is etched in stone. Someone else will step in that has the 70 assembly manual handy. :bglasses:

Your engine code is "SO" although the S is kinda messed up. 350-2bbl.

This is "backed up" (pardon the pun) by your JH transmission code, which is a TH 350 used behind 350-2bbls. 350-4bbls in A-bodies got a JR trans
