I posted this in the "paper trail" http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=62107

but it hasn't gotten much traffic.

Does anyone know the engine codes on the protect-o-plate. According to my 1970 assembly manual, looking at the middle row of characters on the left, the O is the engine type and the 212 engine code. What do these codes mean? I cannot find this info anywhere?? I want to know what engine is in this car.

My assembly manual lists an 'SO' option as a 350-2bbl

Taken from the 1970 assembly manual page 6-4.2

The 212 is a production code, used for warranty work.
