this is just a general question about the dealer installed placards or emblems that usually were located on the trunk lid. now days they are usually just stickers or stick on emblems. but used to be the same metal as the rest of the body emblems. and as i recall, some were pretty original looking. i am as guilty as anyone in that i used to discard this little bit of advertising the dealers put on all new cars, but now i am seeing some offered on ebay, and wonder if having one on your trunk lid would add points at a car show or help validate the value of an original restoration. anyone have an intersting one still on their car?

Yes Rob, I've got one on my car Chuck Naiman out of Tulsa. I like it on there and get lots of comments about it. Wish I could get a new one, it'a getting a little tired.

    Jim,
FYI, I just saw the same emblem you are looking for on ebay not long ago!
If I would have only known you were looking for one!

I started a thread a while back on this same topic. http://v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=74790
The result of posting the thread was that I was able to supply a fellow member a dealer license plate frame.

There are tons of dealer related items out there.
Believe it or not there are folks who have these things lying around.

I think it would be a good idea if we were to have a forum or sticky that's set apart for dealer related items.

I'm on a quest myself for both Shannon Buick (Dayton, Oh) and Jennings Buick
    (Cinn. Oh) period correct items.

I'll keep an eye out for your emblem.

i was thinking maybe a dealer with a funny name or maybe some history in connection with buick. but now that you mention it, all dealer related stuff that came on cars when new always seems to disappear by the time the third or forth owner comes along. and along with items like owners manuals, floor matts [my girtlfriend tried discarding the matts out of my cutllass because they were dirty :af: ] and other original equipment, seem to now go for a pretty penny for someone wanting to return to as close to stock as possible. i have been keeping an eye open for stuff i can save in salvage yards for cars that are getting hard to find. its pretty cool to get an old car and find the original stuff like manuals or build sheets still with the car.

with a good scanner and a bit of repair you could probably crank out a new one yourself if you could find the right paper. a good print shop could definitely make one. i know there are companys on line that specialize in reproducing documents like owners manuals and other printed material like this. i am sure someone here has a link to one or more sites for just that. i dont, just off the top of my head, have one handy. sorry.

The 81 still has the emblem painted on the tailgate.

    "Rock Smith Chevrolet"

The original building is still up town. Now empty, with Phillips Chevrolet right next to it.

I had posted about this before but I will mention it again. I stumbled across this while searching the internet for some other parts. It is an NOS dealer plate from the dealer that originally sold my car. I purchased it and removed the studs on the back, cut out some magnet material to match the letters. Now I can put it on the trunk lid for shows and remove it when I am done. No holes to drill....
