On my 87 Jeep Grand Wagoneer the brand new battery was dead after sitting for two months. Im showing about 20 mA flowing from the battery with everything off. It does have a digital clock and radio with memory. Is this an appropriate draw for those accessories, and would that kill my battery in two months? Or do I have a small short somewhere?

20 Ma is an acceptable power-off drain

    1 Ah/Hr = 1000 Mah/Hr

    A 1 Ah-hr battery will provide 1A for 60 minutes.....or 1000Ma for 60 min(or one hour)

a 20Ma constant drain would take 50 hours to drain a 1000Ma-Hr (or 1 Ahr) battery.

Lets assume you have a 700A-hr battery

then a 20Ma constant drain would take 35,000 hours to drain a 700A-hr battery

    35,000 hours = 1458.3 days or 3.995 years

    ..... :puzzled: keep looking

I had a similar problem on my Toyota Tacoma. As long as I drove it everyday,It would charge up the battery but if I left it for a couple days though,It would drain it down enough to where would have to jump start it.I found out which circuit that had a drain with a test light.1st I took the battery negative cable off and hooked the test light to it then touched the cable. If the light comes on,There is a draw. The I re-hooked the light and used the test light to touch the fuses that had power in them with the key off.Was pretty simple to find because there was only 1 fuse that lit up.Problem is though in my case, the interior lights, clock, electric dook locks and several other things are on this circuit.I unplugged the fuse and know its the problem circuit but haven't went to find out which accessory is the problem.
