Does anybody know the whereabouts of Dave Ray? I am aware that he interupted a convenience store robbery in June (I think), and was shot and had some complications from that as well. Unfortunately he seems to have fallen off the face of the earth; doesn't answer phone calls or emails, and has not made any comments on the Buick Thunder forum for a couple months either. I wish him well but, he has my distributor and my money and I would at least like to know what's going on. Tom
You're most likely to find answers from users on that site. Have you posted there? I haven't heard anything new for quite a while. Last I heard was he was working his way thru a big backlog.
I have had a standing quote there for a couple months. In his September post (not to my thread, but another) he said he was caught up. Then nothing. I emailed Mathew, no response there either. it seems like that forum in almost dead also. Pretty wierd.
Try calling him during the workweek in the middle of the day. I dont think he will "stiff" you. He seems to be a good fellow. Bert
I know this is an old thread but did you ever get your distributor back? I am having the same problem I sent Dave my distributor and a check about 4 months ago, he cashed the check and I have not heard back from him. If anyone on this forum has had any experience with this guy please let me know if you recieved your finished distributor and how long it takes. Thanks
A lot of members here have used Dave's services. Many have experienced long waits for completed work. I have yet to hear of anyone getting stiffed in the end. Do you have phone info for him?
I have his contact info from his website but have not been able to get a reply by leaving phone messages or emails. Does anyone know the average time it takes for Dave to rebuild a dist?
I have to assume that most have read about Dave's experience last year and his many months of physical recuperation. His friend Milton came to his rescue in January and got last summers batch of 7 distributors shipped out. I received mine in Feb, got it installed in March and the car has never run better. Regarding Dave, I made contact with him about a month ago. He was healed up and back to normal but was working overseas and I'm sure that has put a crimp in his business. No excuses for not communicating and I won't make any for him. I suspect he will be back soon and resolve the issues. Have patience but don't expect too much too soon. Good luck!
Tom, thanks for that recent info. That's the kind of detail the customer should be getting from Dave when arranging a job. ou: jmho
Guys, I spoke with Dave a short while ago .... he is doing OK and its business as usual. I am sending out my distributor to him today andhad to discuss some details with him about possibly expediting my order, which he is willing to accomodate, real nice guy. I'll keep everyone posted but things sound quite allright per my conversation with him. Regards, 455NGLIDE
UPDATE: I got my distributor back earlier this afternoon and it looks great...like new and per my specs. Turn around time was eight days and communication was good through entire transaction. I should be able to fire the engine up and dyno test as well this week. I will keep y'all posted. Regards, 455NGLIDE
So have you received your distributor back yet??? I would hope so, since Vern's got turned around so quickly.

Good to hear every everything's back to normal. Dave had my dizzy ready to ship in a week's time before he got shot up last year. Just never was able to get it to UPS. I was in Carson City in Sept when he was in Japan. Bummer, I'd like to have met him. Tom
