Ok. So im driving a 1970 buick skylark w/ 350 engine.. Well, the blinkers or dashlights will not work.. The taillights work, Reverse light works, but blinkers won't work. Also, when i drive in the dark i have to constantly check with my phone light to see how fast im going.. >.<

I tried to replace the glass fuses in it. But im not sure how they would look when they were blown so i just took out the ones that looked really bad and put new ones in.. Also, I researched this a little bit and i don't know if im supposed to be using fast acting or slow acting fuses.

Also. my front blinkers do not work either >.<.. I live in Oregon so its legal to use hand signals but i can't use them at night.. :(

So, can anyone give me some suggestions? im only 17 and my mom gave me this car ( she has had it longer than i've been alive ) and i've just let it be my project.

also, does anyone have a picture or diagram of what fuses do what? because all the lettering is mostly / all the way worn off and i don't know what half of them do.. Much appreaciated..And if i need to clear something up, just comment.

Always start with the simple stuff. Can you hear the turn signal flasher unit clicking when the directionals are on?

For the dash lights, does the dome light come on when you rotate the headlight knob?

Hello Jacob, Welcome to the forum!

It sounds like the flasher for your turn signals has gone bad. If you look at the fuse block you will see a round metal can about 1 1/2" big plugged in to the fuse block, sometimes there are two of them. These 'cans' are the flashers, both for turn signals and for four way flashers and they are interchangeable. You can try swapping them and see if your turn signals work, or just pull the switch for the 4 way flashers and see if they blink. Either way you will probably need to buy a new flasher. They cost under $10.00. Just unplug the defective one and plug in the new one.

Good luck - and keep us posted.

Next we tackle the dash lights.

The big round thing at top left is a flasher. Thats what you're looking for.

Disregard the arrow as this picture was for a different question.

Dome light is usually the a centered light in headliner(roof) on the inside.
Looks something like this picture but the two would be attatched with a working bulb inside.

    Blinkers now work!
Went to autozone and paid like 3$ for a flasher and they now work.. But they still dont make a sound when there on.. And only when i put the right blinker on does the arrow illuminate green.. the left doesn't

Still no dash lights though.. Need those :)

Edit.. I have no dome light... I never even noticed i was supposed to have one till i read that..

And my flasher spot is over to the left and hooked on by a bracket looking thing :) thanks..

    Dashlights -.-

Also, in the picture about the flasher.. I dont have the thing the arrow is pointing at.. What is that? could that be my dashlight problem?

This is a blown fuse. And you already know what a new one looks like.:TU:

Yeah.. None of them looked like that.. But one had like rust in it.. So i replaced it...

Does a buick ever use slow acting or w/e fuses? or always fast?

Cause i replaced everything i took out with fast.. >.<

Also.. One of them that i replaced looked a little different than that.
