The 70 lark I'm doing right now is missing the dashboard ashtray. The car is at the shop right now so I can't look in the hole where the ashtray should be and tell if I'm missing anything the ashtray needs to mount to the dash. How does the ashtray attach to the dashboard? Does it slide straight in and out like a desk drawer or is it supposed to pivot on something inside the dash?

The ball-bearings are in a little sliding plate - I think it is a two-piece unit. One attaches to the dash, the other is connected to it and slides on the ball bearings.
You bolt the plate to the dash, and slide the ash tray in.

    Ok, well that makes sense...

So whats a reasonable price for an ashtray for that car?

    Matt,

Is the mounting bracket and the inside of the tray chrome?

One of Matt's quality would be $75-$200 on Ebay depending on who's bidding.
