Check out the photo of my dash. This is a 1970, GS455 - Stage 1, no A/C car. My question is - there is no driver's side dash vent. Is this correct?, seems odd. See the attached photo - left of fuel/oil gauge - where most vents are - I have the Buick 3 shield logo "blank-out" plate.

Just wondering if this was normal or what? My ohter GS and all I've seen have had a drivers side vent. This car does have the lower vents(floor level) too. Thanks for any insight on this.

I copied this pic from another post - here is what my dash looks like. Can anyone comment on why the dash was like this - with no drivers side dash vent? How did one specify the vent - or was it based on if it was an A/C car versus a non- A/C equipped car? Curiosity calls!

    Thanks,

I think it must be AC cars only.
My AC car has a vent on the left side.
The filler plate on the right is the switch for my convertible top.

your dash pad shouldnt have vents in it either I believe.

Mine is a non-AC car. Has a vent on the left, none on the right (of the part pictured). My vent is opened to fresh air by pulling the cable in the kick panel.

I took a dash out of a junker '72 non-air four door Skylark that was owned by Bill Arseneau(BillyA).The dash is in incredible shape-the "chrome" is as new. That car also has no vent in the left-most portion of the dash.I have only taken apart 10 or fewer dashes(both AC and non-AC) but it was the first one without the vent.Bill had never seen one like this before either.
It does appear however that with judicious cutting one could make a "vented" dash.Obviously these dashes only showed up in a few of the non-
AC cars(and none of the AC cars).Maybe the plastic chroming process was superior on them-making for the "holy grail" of dashes!! I know the one in Bill's parts car had even been under water for awhile(with no bodies in it fortunately)!!.Buicks are tough.

    Ross,
What you are looking at is a dash cluster from a non-AC car with vent windows. If memory serves me correctly, they will only have 1 pull in each kick panel instead of 2, and no upper vents in the dash cluster or dash pad.

I think you will find these on 4-door cars and 2-door post-model cars with the vent windows.

    Thanks guys.

Duane - following to your comment. This dash does have a vent on the passengers side (right side). Would that follow with your comment on a vent window model?

Sounds like others ahve seen this too - in a GS.

    Thansk,
