morning . just slowly plodding through my wiring kit doing a little as I get time . been working under/in the dash etc area now . I was getting close to putting the cluster back in and game planning my approach - as I looked over the rear of the gas gauge I have the studs sticking out so i'm thinkin - there ya go . but as I compare to my old harness , probably not ( been awhile since I took it apart and I can not really remember taking anything off of those studs ) , probably part of the rectangular 9-pin connector . but my instructions and or wiring diagrams are not clear to me ( me being someone NOT well versed in electrical ) . and i'm guessin I will have to use the old connector and splice into that ? I have a single wire to tank sender , it'll be grounded back there but on the dash end is my question I guess . will get ahold of wiring company asap but wanted to check here also . check pics . any info appreciated . thanks .
    ( pic #1 overall view , #2 gas gauge rear , #3 9 pin opening , #4 9 pin connector )
side note : do NOT stick your finger in 9 pin opening to "check it out" - think Chinese finger trap !

I not familiar with Specials, but I would recommend using an Ohmmeter to test continuity between the studs on the gas gauge and the contact points at the connector port. I don't think Buick would have run a separate line for the sending unit to the gauge. The plug showing at the bottom of the picture will need to be replaced with the original one from the old harness since it is a different configuration than the original.

9 pin connector in pics is the oem part from original dash harness . i'm thinking that i'll have to use that also but I have to try and figure out the wires . i'm gonna check for my other manual too and see if there are more pics n info in that . hey - a schematic would be nice .
edit : found other info in manual , pics similar to what matt sent me awhile ago plus schematic that I think is correct . of course I have to decipher that . a lot of little lines there ! but that may give me a starting point to figure that out .
