For years the Rolling Meadows Friday night car cruise has been one of the busiest around, 600-800 cars and some nights over 1000. Started at the old Dominicks on Kirchoff and then went to the Meijers on Algonquin and then back to Dominicks. Last season they announced the cruise would close as the developer who owned the lot was going to do "something" with the property. A couple guys worked hard and found a spot in Palatine, the old Menards on Rand, but I have to say I don't care for the location, lot or the "feel". Last night someone drove past the old Rolling Meadows spot on the way to Palatine and had a little info to add. Next week Big Sal and his boombox will be back in Rolling Meadows on Kirchoff. As the story goes there will be a $2 admission to help offset the insurance. Other rumors went through the crowd, pre 1985 only, only 200 cars, but I cannot verify or deny these. Looks like I'm headed to Rolling Meadows next weekend!
