Hi, has anyone had experience re cross drilling the main bearing oil holes on a 300 crankshaft. 2 books have mentioned that this procedure improves the oiling to all of the rod bearings. Any thoughts? Has anyone heard any negative reports on this?
    cheers

I cross drilled my 350" crank. Seems to be fine, no problems. I do believe that this can "eat" a little oil pressure, but that is OK, as we want more oil in the bottom end than at the top anyway.

If I remember corectly, The bearings i got from sealed power had oil grooves in them, and according to reliable sources (not the place i got the bearings from) Cross drilling is not needed. Just my 2 cents.

Cross drilling isn't needed in Most cases anyway.
If your main bearings have an oil groove both on the top AND bottom shells, then you have 360 degree bearings that are an alternative to cross-drilled mains on the crank.

There are pros and cons to both approaches.
