Just want to add that this problem can be caused by something as simple as a kinked cooler line or a clogged or restricted cooler. It can also be caused by a premium high $$$ convertor that has the oil out channels restricted by the machine work done to install torrington bearings inside. I also can tell you that convertor companies don't like to warranty convertors that have been cut open to prove a point! Jay

    TH-350 transmission pump assembly insection...

Well today I finally got around to pulling the pump assembly for inspection. Thought I'd post some pictures to see if anyone sees anything wrong. I finally go the pump cover off using a couple of bolts and a chain since I don't have a slide hammer. The metal ring is not completely smooth/level. It has deformations opposite the springs. Also the washer shows ware.

Keep in mind either the converter ballooned or the pump cause the above problems.

Here are the steel and face plates. One of the plates (blue arrow) is warped, is this one plate suppose to be this way? The plate furthest to the right is wavy but I think this is correct, because it is symmetrical and consistent.

You probably should take the pump apart and check the pump gears and cavity for wear/galling.

The aluminum piece under those bolts is a piston and has lip seals. The pump halves need to be aligned when you reassemble the pump. Some folks put band clamps around both halves, then tighten the bolts. Another technique used is to turn the pump upside down in the case. Not as easy to do when the guts are still in the case, though.
