My dashpad on my Wildcat recently got cracked. Can anyone recommend either a repair technique or a company that recovers dash pads? Alternatively, if anyone has a black '66 dashpad in mint condition, I'd be interested in that as well.
PM 54Rich here on the board. He was at my place this weekend and when he looked at my dash, he said that he had a repair kit that would fix it. He said that you would not be able to tell it was ever cracked. He should be able to tell you exactly what it is and where he got it.
Let me know about this! I also have a 66 Wildcat that has one crack in the dashpad, on the top passenger side corner. Please let me know how this turns out for you. Thanks,
Hey guys...I'd be interested in that stuff too...hey 54Rich, what's the secret? Finding a good, clean blue dash pad for a 75 full-size is next to impossible!
The real problem is matching the color. I've done black with great results. But tried my boat seats, that are an off white and couldn't get the color right. Here's the link, but I think Eastwood sells it cheaper, which means it's still overpriced. Good customer service. A color other than black, I'd think about them mixing the color. http://www.leathermagic.com/Pages/VINLKIT.HTM The supplied iron is junk, I ended up using a Weller iron with the supplied tip. Rich
Rich, I've seen this kit before but didn't think it would work. SO it does good with a better iron, the tip and black. How about making the rrepair and then dying the entire dash with SEM(?) dye???? Would that make a better color match?? o No: Glad it worked for you!! I might have to try it on my crack now. Thanks, Lon
Thanks, Rich. That's worth a shot! It's already cracked, so I son't see how it could make it much worse. Google turned up this place. I have no idea how much or how good they are.
