    71 gs 455 convertible with a/c cowl tag reads:
    ST 71 43467FL1 207859 BDY
    TR 150 43 G PNT
    05D
    non stage 455 original car; non original 400 auto trans; Break down cowl tag info, please. haven't found any build sheets at all; restoration was in process when purchased (AKA totally disassembled) looks to be a lime green paint with dark green bench (YUK) interior; convertible top material trashed. rear quarter panels replaced, so it's not that much original.
    What is final build date was for 71 model? I was told that this was final production week. It would be nice to have one of the last, if not THE last 71 GS convertible. This particular time period has personal reasons to me. thanks

    ST 71 = 1971 model

    4 = Buick

    34 = GS ( Could be GS 350 or GS 455)

    67 = convert

    FL1 = Flint Plant

    207859 BDY = Fisher body seqence number

    TR 150 = Green vinyl notchback seat

    43 = Limemist body paint

    G PNT = Covert top color (I guess dark green just to keep from having to look it up. Correct me if I missed it.)

    05D = Built 4th week of May 1971

    Thanks, i wasn't 100% sure as to color, but the cowl area beneath the fender was lime green, has "33" in crayon/ assembly marker on it. It had been repainted a metallic dark green at some time. I'll probably strip/ media blast entire car body, and start from bare metal, so I'll know the true bottom line on the condition. I actually like the lime green color paint, but don't care for the dark green bench seats. In a local salvage yard, I found a set of strato-buckets with headrests (rpo A81?) in 69 grand prix in (you guessed it) dark green. Hey, I can always change out the entire interior, every single thing, to make it what color I want; stick one of my beefed up 200-4r BRF or BQ transmissions in place of the 400, and get better acceleration and better gas milage:Brow: . yeah, You do believe that about better milage, don't you?

    Steve, funny my 71 Stage-1 also from the fFlint plant also has a 33 on the drivers side cowl area. Duane says this is a code # for the car going down the assembly line but it coincides with a chrome remote style mirror code that I think my car came with. What mirrors does your car have?? MAybe it is mirror code or just dumb coincidence that both cars were the 33'rd car on the day they were built.

    My old 71 convert was built in Flint also and originally had a Chrome remote mirror, but when I pulled the fender it had "169" on the side of the firewall.
    I don't think it was a option code.

    How many licks does it take to get to the middle of a tootsie pop? The world may never know. i'm more into the idea of the run down the assembly line, as my 87 turbo limited had the same numbers crayoned on the cowl and passenger outer fender on inside when i took my front clip off. Possibly from the paint department to keep that cars parts together?
    Mine does have the single chrome remote driver's side mirror (option D33)

    Wierd update on that thread. Chrome mirror was on non original drivers door; Sport mirror was on original passenger door. wonder where the other sport mirror went, and why.
