This first one is minor: earlier in the year I got one of the seat chrome restoration kits for two bucket seats from OPG and they had every part of it in stock (which they sent me) except for the seat track knobs, which FINALLY came today, but they didn't have screws with them. Are they supposed to be attached with regular sheetmetal screws or those headless grub screws that need a hex driver? The second is that when the seats were recovered, the guy who did them said that on the drivers seat the plate under the upholstery that the headrest lock screws into is missing, so he just finished the seat without the headrest locks. I can't find this piece hes talking about in any catalog anywhere. Is this something I can find in a junkyard in a certain other seat(s) or is it unique to the 69-72 bucket seat? Thanks.
yes the chrome knob is held on with an allen grub screw found at any hardware store. the trim retainer plates for the head rest locks can be found on any 70-72 gm a body bucket seat. i dont believe anybody repos them.
Email me direct at GStage1@buickperformance.com I have the metal plate but I need to find it. Need your shipping address.
the original knobs were plastic (either black or chromed plastic) and not held on by any screws, etc...they just push onto the arm which has a sort of barbed end on it. Do these repro knobs have a hole in them already (for a screw)???
From looking at a number 70 cars it appears to me that this chrome to black knob was a mid 70 model year change occuring around Feb- March 70.
These repros are definitely metal, or at they at least feel heavy enough to be so. Each knob has a little tapped hole in it on the side for a set screw. Got a couple of 4 mm set screws from the hardware store and they work fine.
Email me direct at GStage1@buickperformance.com I will look for it tomorrow/Sun. I didn't hear from you since our previous discussion and did not look for it assuming you had found one.
I don't know what is happening but I did not get your email as of 7:30 eastern tonight. I will look for your part on Monday.
Well....I found my box of bucket seat parts but I don't have the metal anchor plate....I can not believe I did not have it. Maybe someone else will have one for your car.
