What carb came on a 66 Riviera GS? What size carb was it? And, what would be a perfect size and brand of an aftermarket carb to put on it? I thought they came with Carters, but mine has a Rochester on it.

The 750 cfm QJet that is on there now IS the perfect carb choice for it.

If it's original then that's a Rochester Quadrajet. Excellent carb, but first year for it. I used to have one on mine, it ran good but those are noted for leaky welch plugs on the bottom. That causes hard starting when hot and poor gas mileage from the richer mixture depending on how severe the leak is. They make repair kits for that, as well as an upgraded needle and seat kit. If you are going to have it rebuilt, send it to someone who knows what they're doing. Don't exchange it for a rebuilt, good cores are hard to find.

I think it may be 800 cfm but I'm not really sure. The intake manifold you have is a one year only deal with the spreadbore design. I would have kept mine, but I wanted the dual quads instead. They have just a little more top end power.

Don't put a holley on it, keep what you got it's a better carb.:Smarty:

Im going to rebuild mine. How much are the rebuild/upgrade kits?
I have a rochester dual-jet 210 on my samurai. Its basically the same thing as whats on the buick, only with the big end cut off of it.
