Great thread, fascinating... but where are you? Town, state?

Oddly enough, in my small bayside town near Melbourne, Australia, I see one of those 69 Camaro pace cars with the same door writing. Guy drives it a lot in summer, parks it very conspicuously where there are heaps of pedestrians, and loves answering questions and showing it off all day long. And why not.

Hi, Dave. We're in Missoula, Montana, which is a city in the Rocky Mountains with a population around 80,000. The lettering on the pace cars was vinyl stickers originally that were included in the trunk of the car and it was up to the new owner to decide if they wanted them put on or not. The last "restoration" go around on this one back in the '80s I'm going to guess that the decals weren't available reproduction and you didn't just roll into a custom vinyl shop like now, so they had them hand painted on. We've got the correct set of decals to put on it now.

It is a great place to work, somewhere you actually feel appreciated which is definitely different from a lot of shops I've worked in. It is also extremely high pressure and high stress because as I said, I have to figure out how to get about 120 cars a day through the shop while trying to get big projects like the Camaro and other things done. But, I've got a great group of guys working for me, even if it feels like I'm running an adult day care much of the time. We still have fun :D.....and we're always looking for good line techs!
