Just a quick informal survey. My Fiance was city born and bred, I'm a country boy. Just wondering where everybody grew up and where they live now. City or Country? I live in the city now (not a big city mind you 45 000 people.) and I hate it, when we can we will be moving into the country again.

Born near Chicago area..Gary Indiana.Lived there from 1962 to 1977.Lived in a city type area till we moved to Pennsylvania in 1977(parents home state). Now I live in a real small rural community approx 1-3 thousand at the way most.(ALOT OF AMISH).I wouldn't ever be happy living in the city ever again.Like it too much being out where no one bothers me.Besides, where else could you live with a 3/4 mile straight stretch in front of your house?

Grew up in rural ND, spent my springs/summers/falls at hard labor on the family farm... I would never choose to do that for a living. Wife grew up in a city of about 15K in SD.

We've talked many times about living in the country, maybe 5-10 miles out. Finally decided the pros and cons favored staying in town (130,000 met.area) when we bought a house again this past fall. I would love to be out of town again someday. Maybe in 20 yrs when the kids are all out of the house.

I too grew up doing hard labor on the family farm in Ky.We grew lots of tobacco around 15-20 acres a year of it & let me tell you that's alot of hard work for 4 people.Anyone who's worked in it knows  We had cattle & put up lots of hay-knew i didn't want to do that.
I do relish living in the rural area where i live.If i feel like it i can walk outside & use the bathroom or shoot a gun without bothering anyone or fear doing it.
Plus i can bring home as many parts cars as i like,no complaints from anyone. :TU:
Er-except my wife :spank: She's cool with it as long as i keep them orderly & pretty much out of sight

I grew up in the city, but now live kind of rural. I am in a development, but it takes a good 15-20 minutes go get to a mall.

I'd have to say it's the best of both worlds and highly recommend it.

    Gotta chime in ..
Nations Capital born and raised .Great town , very international , lots of great food within walkin distance of my house, high paying jobs, and my hometown is on the national news every night...
    Bad news
Expensive place to find a place to live . My race car, project cars, trailer etc I have to keep in a rented shop in the suburbs of Maryland (1 hour 15 minute drive). My Roadmaster has been broken into and somebody stole all of my cool stereo and video stuff. Roads suck. Dont have a vote in Congress. My car insurance is really high....

hmmmmm what the heck am I doing here

City born and growing up in the city. Most people would want to move into the country but I couldn't picture me in the country away from people and everything in the city. The city is in my blood and I doubt I'll ever leave when I'm older.

HOLY COW... I'd kill to have only 45000 ppl right now.

Grew up in a small town west of Lansing MI. about 15000 maybe. Loved every minute of it....

Now... I'm in a weird area.... 100000 ppl.... But still not a "City" atmosphere... Of course down here in southern FL... that basically doubles in the winter time. :Dou:

Can't wait to get out of here though... Next house is gonna be on AT LEAST 50 acres. I hate having neighbors close enough to look in your windows. If they can see your house lights at night.... then there TOO CLOSE...lol. :TU:

I VOTE, IN THE COUNTRY.......! I live in a village of about 6,000 people now and love it. I was a country gentleman(?) on 5 acres with horses, goats, chickens, ducks, dogs and cats with no neighbors close by. Had a 50'X90' shop with double doors wired 110, 220 and with lifts. Loved it out there, but now retired and decided we should be in closer to the city. Nice and quiet here, and that is nice, just like being in the country. No complaints except I truly miss my shop. Just don't live on a heavily used country road, account sound carries. Jim :beer

I grew up in Cleveland,OH.[the city :) ] Now I`m kinda, but not really out in the sticks. Were about 30-45 minutes outside Cleve. We have 5 acres,a newer home in a development with the smallest lot being 3 acres,a big shop for work, and the cars. Its the same as Phils set up[70 gsconvt]] I WOULD NOT live back in the city again,Most of my friends still live there, but the traffic, the noise.......[I used to live under the main runway for Hopkins Airport] I dont know how I did it. Plus the yards arent big enough for the truck, trailer, everyday driver, a few Buicks,....you get the picture :3gears:

City born and still reside. Moved once to the country in Southern Idaho and loved it. We lived in the Snake River basin on 3 acres. The hunting and fishing were great and we really enjoyed the lack of people. Unfortunatly I could not make a living in my chosen profession so back to Calif to the crowds.
When I retire, soon I hope, it will be to Idaho or Montana :TU:

Suburb. Not quite city as we had a lot of open land here when I was growing up, but not country either. More of a city though. Its nice, I can drive 10 minutes and be in the middle of nowhere.

I was born and raised in Portland Oregon and have still lived right outside of downtown all my life. I love the view and the hills around here, and only an hour drive to Mt. Hood to do some skiing. Some say it rains a lot here, but what they hell we don't here the planes fly over us either.

    Kinda city..

Born in Taylorville, IL (country) and moved to the St. Louis area when I was 4. Been hever ever since, but I live in the "burbs" of the city. So I wouldn't call me a city guy, although I like having access to it. I like the country because of the freedom and space, but I don't like giving up my city amenities.
