Could it be the heat?

OK folks. I was just curious as to the opinions of the experts. I just bolted on a four barrel in place of the old two on the 350 (two year old rebuild), Brand new Edelbrock 600 manual choke on top of the same brand adapter for a stock intake. Now for the problem part. When cold, she starts and runs like a scalded dog. Once hot, and left off for 5 minutes or more, she will not kick on till I hold the throttle wide open and run the starter for about 15 to 20 seconds. Blue smoke pours out of the exhaust like never before, and she's good again. The only insulation for the carb is the supplied gaskets. Could it just be the heat cooking the carb? The electric fans and the thermo are set at 190. I never had this issue with the old two barrel. Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like your carburetor is running extremely rich. Not so much an issue when cold. Could be a tuning issue or it could be a defective carb.

I will have to go back to the old vac gauge and do some more tuning. Followed things to the letter, and everything was fine till the weather got a little warmer. I'll go back and try it again.

Check to make sure your oil isn't full of fuel. Would be the cause of the blue smoke.
