Should the window cranks be clear on a 70GS? The amber colored one came from a 70 Skylark. I am not sure what type of vehicle the clear one came from. Perhaps the amber colored one is just discolored from age? Thanks for any help. Bert
I have always operated under the assumption th darker color started out its life as a clear plastic cover.
I thought the 70 cranks were less ornate, and a bit smaller, with a knob that was more cone-shaped. Of course, I'm not at all good at these things.
Yes--the one on the L is closer to the original appearance. They "yellow"with age like the one on the R. Both of those are correct and started out looking the same. Think positive....it's called patina. You think that is bad---let me see if I can get Chris Lott to post a pick of the aftermarket window cranks that were on his latest acquisition...straight out of the JC Whitney Good Times Van catalog section!! :Brow:
They all started out clear -- unless they were black, that is. No, not for '70, but I just wanted to make sure no one mistook a black knob for the ultimate patina.
The yellow ones were all clear and probably came from a warm climate or car was left in the sun alot. Most original cars ffrom out west or down south I have seen were yellow. Most handles in my area did not turn as yellow.
