CARS are made of rubber and the Legendary's are made of plastic. Originals were rubber but I suspect plastic is more durable. Plastic is thinner than the origial rubber factory units.

I have both Marco. The CARS mats are "big car" mats. The Legendary were made for our A bodies.

    Thanks guys!

So...if I can make some sense of this...

Cars are made with the correct material but the shape is wrong.
Legendary is made of the wrong material but the shape is correct.

If we cannot clear up the confusion, we at least like to make the confusion clear.

Hi Marco - The Legendary mats are nice repros. There was a long post about them when they were first made. In my opinion, even though the material is not OEM and they are a bit thinner, you would be hard pressed to see the difference between them and orginials just looking at them in the car...except that they are not faded, worn or yellow! Check with Duane if you are worried about losing show points however.

If you don't want points deducted then do not leave the mats in the car when it is being judged. It woud not matter regarding our judging policies (BPG) however it does with some other organizations.

I know of several instances where judges "assumed" the reason the mats were installed was to hide problems with the carpets, and points were deducted.

I have the Legendary repops John helped develop. The material is a bit thinner, and much more supple than my originals, giving them that thin feeling. Appearance is very nice! The lack of rigidity is noticed when I romp on the throttle, the pass side mat flips back every time- oh, that damn BUICK torque again...just ask the second hand on my clock laying in the bottom of the clock :3gears:

I would buy the legendary mats again.

The shape is right on the CARS mats, they're just larger in size. They fit perfect in my Riv. In the 70 GS, they look too big

Technically, the mats are concidered an accessory.

I have the very heavy and very thick Poston "GS" ones, and the same thing happens to me on the passenger side. Just a cross, we Buick owners have to bare.:Brow:
