Make sure you get the correct insulation....ac vs non-ac.

Also, some of the repro plastic fluted pins are slightly larger than the originals which may require you to open the firewall holes slightly.

Can you please explain exactly what your problem is ??

I find that slicone etc will keep you from shearing these during install.

George are the repros different than the factory? I think factory were the same for AC and Non AC as you just tore out the holes you needed on the perferations. DO they have the correct molded rubber type pad now or is it still the same flat vinyl junk they sold a few years ago? if it is it is no wonder it does not fit correct. HAd the same fit problem on my friends 442.

Well, the ones I have seen are the vinyl style. They list them as specific for AC or non-AC. I tried to fit a non-AC in an AC car it was a no-go. The opening for the AC evap was too small and I had to cut it larger to make it fit.
It was not difficult but as you know the firewall opening for an AC car is much larger than a non-AC car.

Check out the Ames Performance Pontiac site they list a molded type firewall insulation type pad as well as the cheaper type. It is $140 but may be worth it as some of their stuff crosses over to Buick and they are pretty fussy and describe what they sell.
